Rural Area

This was for my masters at IADT Dun Laoghaire Arc MA program, a group show in The Lab Gallery, Dublin, Jan 2023.  I focused on aspects of my local County Longford’s Development Plan, 2021-2027, such as the ‘rural settlement cluster zones’. This project, Rural Area, examines various ways in which the experience of space is structured and organised. I was particularly interested in the hierarchy of statutory bodies involved in the planning process and in the potential disconnection between this hierarchy and the everyday lived experience of people in county Longford. In Rural Area, I drew on my local knowledge and extensive photographic archive to investigate these zones through a conceptual installation.
